Servicewomen from Police, Fire and Ambulance will be out in force to celebrate International Women’s Day on Sunday 8 March

Please attribute to Area Commander Inspector Jeanette Park.

Police, along with Fire & Emergency NZ, St John, Napier City Council and Hastings City Council will host the 2020 edition of the Celebrating Women in Services event at Napier’s Perfume Point Reserve.

The day provides an opportunity to recognise women’s achievements and increase the visibility of women in New Zealand’s emergency services.

Recruitment information will also be available to anyone interested in joining, as well as the opportunity to speak with staff working in diverse roles throughout the services.

There will be plenty of fun activities on offer, including a tug-of-war, and, for those wanting to put themselves to the test, entry assessments for each of the emergency services.

Those eager for a more active outing can also give the Police grip test, fire hose drag or the army assault course a go.

Meanwhile, those who would prefer to watch others feel the burn can watch members of the respective services test their strength in a tug of war competition around noon.

The activities will begin at 11am and finish at 2pm.
