Novel coronavirus, China (2019-nCoV)

On 31 December 2019, the World Health Organisation China Country Office was informed of cases of pneumonia of unknown cause detected in Wuhan City, Hubei Province.

Common signs of infection include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. In more severe cases, infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and even death.

New Zealanders should read the information provided on the New Zealand Ministry of Health website, which includes advice for travellers. The Ministry of Health is monitoring the situation closely.
