Joint CPAG and ActionStation Press Conference on Government action needed to eliminate child and whānau poverty followed by petition delivery to Hon. Jacinda Ardern’s office
Breakfast media briefing: 23 September, 8am-9am, 704 New North Rd, Auckland
We will provide a hardcopy briefing document for attendees on the day.
There will also be a panel of people with lived experiences of receiving welfare support, who will address media with their personal asks to the Government for a better welfare system.
The briefing will conclude with time for journalists to put questions to all speakers.
Petition Delivery to Hon. Jacinda Ardern’s electoral office: 9am, 23 September
Following the media briefing will take a short walk to Hon. Jacinda Ardern’s electorate office at 568 New North Road, where our panelists will deliver a joint petition to the House of Representatives by CPAG and ActionStation.
More than 5600 people nationwide have signed this petition, calling on the Government to make substantial changes to the welfare system so that people can live dignified lives, and so children and whānau are able to thrive.
There will be photo opportunities for media outside Hon. Jacinda Ardern’s electoral office, where we will also do a brief media stand up following the delivery of the petition.
Further interviews with panelists and organisations will be available on request, following our return from the petition delivery.

Venue: St Luke’s Anglican Church, 704 New North Road, Mt Albert
Time: 8am – 9am, followed by a 5 minute (400m) walk to deliver our petition to Hon. Jacinda Ardern’s electorate office. (9am – 9.30am). 
Tea, coffee and a light breakfast will be available at the venue between 8-8:20am.
Parking: There is plenty of parking available around St Luke’s Anglican Church. There is parking below the church on New North Road, parking below the church directly off Atawhai Lane (entrance off New North Road) and a car park behind the church (follow Atawhai Lane).
