Situated 18 kilometres to the south-east of Auckland, the Otara Market is held every Saturday from 6am until 12pm at Otara Carpark, Newbury Street (Behind Otara Town Centre).

This large market features a real mix of Auckland’s cosmopolitan and indigeneous culture with up to 150 stalls selling a diverse choice of food and fresh produce, flowers, jewellery, fashion, clothing and accessories.

Art and crafts stalls offer a chance to purchase Maori, Samoan and Tongan art and sculpture pieces.

Many visitors to the market arrive to do their weekly fruit and vegetable shopping with an abundance of stalls to choose from.

During some weekends the market plays host to live music and cultural performances to add to the lively atmosphere.

The market is also a great place to enjoy a bite to eat and try something different with Hangi, Island doughnuts, chop suey, kebabs, sushi, Spanish donuts and souvalaki breads amongst the freshly cooked food on offer.

With the popularity of the market, it’s best to arrive early to get a parking space.
