The purpose of a board is to provide leadership and direction and devise strategy for the organisation. Members of a board focus on the high-level planning for a business or entity, rather than the day to day operations. The board must ensure that:

  • finances are sound
  • operations are legal
  • procedures are working
  • assets are safe
  • all tasks are carried out in the public interest
