Congratulations to producer Arielle Sullivan and writer/director Kyan Krumdieck who have won our Calibrate Legal / Patrick McGrath Barrister People’s Choice Award for Repugnant! This prestigious award is voted for by our audience members.

Around 1,000 votes were received in total. There was fierce competition, with the other front runners being: Twenty One Points, Toilet, Kai Tangata – Alien Weaponry, Negative Space (France), My Friend Michael Jones and Cleaver.

Repugnant is a clever comedy exploring the premise of a lonely woman operating a business that offers gay conversion therapy for dogs. The film was made as part of The Outlook for Someday, a project supporting young New Zealand film-makers. It was produced by Arielle Sullivan, and stars Donough Rees as Grace and pug super-star Arnold Robinson as Fergis the dog.

The filmmakers will be receiving $1,500 cash, a copy of Final Draft writing software and an engraved Show Me Shorts badge. We hope this will help towards making their next project.
