It’s not all about rugby in Christchurch this weekend, with a huge day at The Piano with the NZCT Chamber Music Contest Semi Finals, gearing up towards the National Finals tomorrow on the 4th August. The standard has been incredibly high from all 12 amazing ensembles competing from across Aotearoa, so judges Wilma Smith, and members of Sweden’s Klara Kollektiv have had unenviable job. But, nevertheless, the 6 finalists have all been announced for tomorrow’s big day.

These semi finals today are the result of months of intense preperation and hard work for all the ensembles, and performing extraordinary works from Shostakovich, Schubert, Stravinsky to a work by New Zealand composer David Hamilton.
