Have your say about how we express New Zealand’s interests in Antarctica and the Southern Ocean.

Date:  Wednesday, 25 July

Time:  4.00pm-5.30pm

Venue:  Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Level 12, HSBC Tower, 195 Lambton Quay

New Zealand has significant and enduring strategic interests in Antarctica and the Southern Ocean. These include peace, security, and effective governance, together with environmental, scientific, conservation, reputational, and economic interests.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade is refreshing New Zealand’s statement of these interests (the previous statement was published in 2002).

We invite you to this public meeting to discuss the draft proposed statement and to provide feedback. You can see the statement here.

RSVP to antarctica@mfat.govt.nz  by 4pm on Tuesday 24 July.

NB:  Please arrive by 3.50pm to complete sign-in and security requirements.

You can also send comments, by 30 July 2018, to antarctica@mfat.govt.nz or post to: Environment Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Private Bag 18-901, Wellington.
