Whangarei’s Endless Summer Festival is about to take off, with events being held somewhere near you from the first week in January through to the end of March.

Mayor Sheryl Mai said the Endless Summer Festival brings many delights and she challenges everyone to participate in as many events as possible, with sunblock, sunhat and water bottle in hand.

“The festival will bring us more than 100 events for residents of and visitors to our beautiful district. Many of these events are free of charge, or entry by donation.

“A major highlight near the start will be Ngäpuhi Festival 2018. Whangarei is honoured and privileged to host this enormous music, arts, cultural and community event by Aotearoa’s largest iwi, Ngapuhi,” said Mayor Mai.

The festival on 27 January will feature some of Aotearoa’s best homegrown talent including Aaradhna, Paua, the Modern Maori Quartet and Pieter T as well as performances from top local entertainers and kapa haka groups. It will have more than 100 food, craft and information stalls, fun activities for the kids and youth, plus designated space for kaumätua and kuia.

A highlight of the tail end of the festival will be the Fritter Festival, on 10 March. New Zealand legends Salmonella Dub will be headlining the festival.
