Saturday, 12 August 2017 – 10:16pm

Motorists are being advised to take extra care on roads in parts of the South Island tonight.

Police are responding to reports that two campervans and a further 10 to 15 vehicles are stuck in snow on the Crown Range – Cardrona Valley Rd.

The council and roading contractors have been advised, and Police units with 4WD are attending.

In Westland, a tree has come down on Haast Pass Highway (SH6) between Haast Pass-Makarora Rd and Marks Rd.

Also in Westland, a tree’s fallen on Whataroa Highway at Harihari, between Main Rd and Oneone Rd.

In Canterbury, a tree has reportedly fallen on power lines on Homebush Rd, Coalgate – between Bangor Rd and Yeomans Rd.

All drivers are being urged to drive to the conditions and report any road blockages to Police.
