Beatson Interview – Selwyn Manning IVs Nikki Kaye on Her Vision For Auckland & Whether The Ports Should Be Moved

The National Party’s MP for Auckland Central, Nikki Kaye, talks to Selwyn Manning about her vision for Auckland and in particular her view that there is a strong argument to have the Ports of Auckland moved to either Marsden Point and/or Tauranga.

Script: This week — we kick-off the first of a series of programmes we’ll be mounting through the year on the super-planning that’s needed to develop New Zealand’s first super-city Auckland Council’s governing body has approved the Big Picture Plan for a “quality, compact city” that will house up to 1 million more people over the next 30 years.

And It’s going to be a stretch — for both the Council’s residents and ratepayers — and central government, its agencies, and taxpayers.

Tonight, two Auckland MP’s with a special interest in the success of the effort are our guests on the Interview:

Auckland Central’s NationalMP Nikki Kaye — and the Labour opposition Auckland issues spokesperson Phil Twyford (click here to view).

First up — here’s Selwyn Manning with Nikki Kaye.

The Beatson Interview broadcasts on Monday evenings on Triangle TV and webcasts on LiveNews.co.nz.

I was actually hoping we could move the whole lot, it’s obscuring the view, and such a low decile. I have complete confidence in Auckland central and the drunk middle class. The Spanish rains, sorry twains, will save down-town Britomart. Lady Gaga will cum by to sing songs and we will go home on twains full of wice and squid and spongebob square pants. I will be able to sell my loyalty reward cards for mighty rever power down at the wharf for foreign Spanish sailors. I like Baklava, but not tax. NIMBY and I would like to spend an afternoon with Anthony Gibson, he has such a firm hand.

Nikki Kaye is full of hot air. She’s working for developers. The worse thing in any large city is traffic. It’s costly, time consuming and works on the well being of people living and working in the city. I know, I lived in Los Angeles and it is a disaster, everyone rushing to drive onto a parking lot. Aukland should look at a rail system that moves people such as London and Paris. Nothing like that will happen with National. Nikki Kaye lacks vision and she was throwing out rhetoric and memorized speeches.. She said the same thing during Back Benches last Wed. She wasn’t a match against the other three party leaders…People of Aukland want a rail, start there.
